South Africa Wicketkeeper enter into Cricket Elite Club

South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock has achieved a significant new milestone by scoring a century against India. This was his 7th ODI century against the Indian team.

In this century, he has equalled the record set by Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya, who also scored 7 centuries against India.

Match Details

India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Notably, this was the first time in the last 21 international matches that India won a toss. South Africa’s start was poor, as opener Ryan Rickelton was dismissed without scoring any runs (a duck).

During this difficult phase, Temba Bavuma supported De Kock. The duo put together a solid partnership of 113 runs . Bavuma contributed 48 runs, while De Kock continued to score quickly from the other end.

Quinton de Kock looked in complete control throughout his knock. He completed his century in just 80 balls in style by hitting a six over square leg.

He was eventually dismissed after scoring a total of 106 runs off 89 balls. Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna clean-bowled him. De Kock’s record against India has always been magnificent; he previously scored three centuries in the 2013 home series, two during the 2015 tour, and another in the 2022 home series.
